My First ....
My First ....
There is a lot happened in past 3-4 months and a lot of it belongs to "My First". I didnt get a chance to catch up, so here comes a big blurb. Be patient, get your coffee and sit in a relaxed supinely posture.
India Trip: September'07 was ending. Grand pa wasnt keeping up well. Dad used to come home worried everyday. And that day, grand ma called mommy. Grand pa was spitting blood with his caught. We all got alarmed. It was Friday afternoon and Dad decided to leave right away. He went out to get his ticket. Mean while mom couldn't control her emotions and called dad to get two more tickets for me and her. Everything was set and at the eleventh hour when we were about to leave to catch the flight, I fell off the chair. Big wound on my forehead. I was rushed to emergency and we missed the flight. We had to postpone the ticket for another day. In short, faster we needed to get there, we got delayed ever more.
First Flight: Never flew before I went to India in Oct'2007. There was a bassinet arranged for me. My parents were too naive to think that kid like would use a Bassinet. It was used as a storage of my stuff. I didnt cry during take off and landing. I was sleeping for most part. And whatever part I was awake, I made mess. Threw stuff around, food, popcorn, water and what not. Stood up in the Bassinet, stared at the everybody. Cathay's baby food was better then Gerber food, no doubt. All in all, it wasn't bad.
First Few Weeks: We reached there in time. Grand pa was critical but in stable condition. It was a whole new world for me. So many new faces but only mom and dad were familiar. I barely could walk and falling wasnt same as falling in my Fremont apartment. Boy, it used to hurt and often times, a big bump on my forehead. Grand pa was gettng better every day (probably wanted to see me, I wasnt allowed inside the hospital, certainly not in ICU). After a weeks time, we all started going out (out means out of hospital) every so often. We used to go for lots of shopping. Mom thinks Jaipur offers better (and cheaper) choices for apparel and other household. How did I care? I was just enjoying and cruising along with them on those new roads and watching the chaotic traffic patterns. McD in India offer far better fast food choice then their counterparts else where in the world, Mom and dad were talking. It was my first trip to McD, so I didnt know the difference but I loved the Aloo Tikki Burger. My first visit to LMB was also a nice one, where I almost punched a French toddler who was about my age. Surely it wasnt intentional, well, in that age, hardly anything is. As time was progressing things were happening. Grand pa got discharged from hospital. We were getting ready to pack our bags.
First Train Journey: Things were happening fast. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, we were all gossiping (I was just entertaining myself) and making further plans of our travel. Suddenly courier boy delivered a appointment confirmation from US Embassy for following Monday. In few hours we all were at Jaipur Railway station booking our tickets to Delhi. It was a fun ride. Train has power connectors and lots of food. I drank and ate a lot. Dad finished up some of his work, thanks to reliance wireless network. After embassy, we stopped at Nirulas for late lunch and then took another train to our home town. This one was little more crowded but was still lots of fun. Dad has to leave for work and I started my travel. I visited Alwar and then Gangapur City (my maternal grand parents place).
First Diwali: I had never witnessed Diwali in India before. Diwali in US is not quiet the same. No wonder I was excited. Dad was excited too as it was his first Diwali since he moved out of India in 2000. Tones of sweets, new clothes, lighting all over the place, candles, Lamps, fireworks, I just loved it. We offered our prayers to goddess Lakshmi and went to visit places. Too much fun translated into my sickness. I ate something which my stomach refused to accept and I got sick. Really sick. Took about 3 days to recover. And as soon as I was in a slightly stable condition, we flew out to Hyderabad.
First Hotel Stay: Since I was born, we never left our home in bay area and I never lived in hotels before. So, this was my first hotel stay. I didnt like it very much in the beginning, partly because it was a new location and partly because I was recovered fully. Hotel that we were staying was decent but even important, the staff was very courteous and friendly. They would take me for a walk around the hall way, around the restaurant while mom and dad finish their meals. Dad used to work till late in office, but mommy and I never felt boring. We used to leave late after noon and shop around till late in the night. In the weekends, we used to visit Dad's old friends. We visited Anushka's place. I liked their place but didn't make friends with her as my social skills weren't matured enough.
Back to HOME: Grand Pa was doing better and Dad was done with his work. So we decided to return back in early Dec'2007. And life came back to normal. It was a fun trip to India, did lots of things first time.
Since return...
I am now big into imitation. I will try to imitate any thing that see or hear. Some of funny (I make my sincere effort but everybody else thinks its funny. I dont mind) ones are
- Pranayam: I really dont get what dad does but I am able to produce the same breathing noise.
- Vaseline: I can apply vaseline (pretend to) only forget to close the lips
- feeding: I love this one, only problem is that I cant hold the spoon straight, so it turns before reaching my mouth and whole food gets delivered everywhere except mouth.
- Dance: I can imitate anybody (just doesnt look the same). Love soft rock and jazz and right about music that has good beats.
Latest vocab: Namma Namma (Spoon), oo/aecuu (vacuum), payeen (water), dudhdhoo (contextually - water, milk, juice or other liquid).
